 Honolulu
International Airport (HNL)
today became the 26th
location to provide
expedited crewmember
access to secured areas
via the Known Crewmember
(KCM) program. Those
using the alternative
screening methodology
included crews from
multiple ALPA pilot
groups. HNL
International Airport
offers KCM at security
checkpoint 2, between
lobbies 4 and 5,
operating from 6:00 a.m.
to 9:00 p.m. each day.
KCM, a joint
initiative between the
Air Line Pilots
Association, Int’l, and
Airlines for America
(A4A), is a risk-based
screening system that
enables TSA security
officers to positively
verify the identity and
employment status of
crewmembers.

specific KCM portal
locations, select the
“KCM” tab on the ALPA
smart phone app for
iPhones and Droids, or

DAL44 Pilots Meet with Influential Congressman |
|
|
Delta’s Council 44
elected officers and
Government Affairs and
Legislative Affairs
Committee chairs
recently met with Rep.
David Scott (D-Ga.) to
discuss aviation-related
issues, communicate the
Association’s goals, and
offer their services and
support. Congressman
Scott is a senior member
of the House Committee
on Financial Services,
which positions him to
weigh in on issues like
foreign carrier
wide-body aircraft
financing by the
Export-Import Bank, the
federal export credit
agency of the U.S.
government. He fully
understands the
competitive disadvantage
for domestic airlines of
offering subsidized
U.S.-manufactured
aircraft to overseas
carriers and is working
to address ALPA’s
concerns.
The congressman was
also thoroughly briefed
on the current effort to
eliminate the
cargo-carrier carve-out
for
flight-time/duty-time
compliance under FAR
117.
The Council 44 pilots
appreciate the time
Scott spent with them
and look forward to
working together to
advance policies that
promote U.S. airlines
and the pilot
profession.

ALPA Pilots Take Action around Country |

This past August, ALPA
launched its newest
grassroots program,
“August Advocates.”
Since then, ALPA
volunteers have attended
meetings around the
country with their
state representatives to
discuss top pilot
partisan legislative
priorities.
“Meeting with my
representative in his
home district offered a
convenient way for me to
be involved in politics
without travelling far
from home,” said Leah
Morgenthau, XJT pilot
and legislative
coordinator, of her
visit to Rep. John
Yarmuth’s (D-Ky.)
Kentucky office.
“Setting up the
meeting was easy, and I
felt like both the
member and his staff
were concerned about all
the issues we touched
on. I was proud to be
able to voice the
concerns of other ALPA
pilots directly to my
representative.”

States has authorized a $117.5 million loan guarantee supporting exports of
Boeing 737-800 aircraft to flydubai, a low-cost airline owned by the government
of Dubai.

IYE Accepting Applications for 2013 |

International Youth
Exchange Program (IYE)
for families of airline
staff members is
currently accepting
applications for the
summer of 2013. IYE
matches youth ages 14 to
19 with a correspondent
of similar age from an
airline family abroad.
The youths spend two
weeks together in your
home and two weeks in
the home of the match
family.While
overseas, your son or
daughter has the
opportunity to learn
about another culture
from someone his or her
own age. Living with a
family abroad for two
weeks is an
extraordinary way to
experience another
country.

is a $300 application

Happy 10-11-12! Boeing today announced a $5 billion order of 50 B-737s for
Alaska Airlines, the largest order in the airline’s history. The deal is a firm
purchase for 20 737 MAX 8s, 17 737 MAX 9s, and 13 Next-Generation 737-900ERs.

address, please update your ALPA records. If you don’t, you
will no longer receive the ALPA FastRead and other e-mail bulletins and notices,

in. Go to “My ALPA” in the menu at the top of the page, and from there, you’ll be
